Miracles Performed By HAZRAT SHAMAS TABREZ (R.A) :
MAULANA (religious teacher) RUMI could never have become MAULA RUMI
Without submitting to Spiritual Guide HAZRAT SHAMS-E-TABRIZI (R.A),
1) Once while MAULANA JALALLUDDIN RUMI (R.A) was teaching his pupils in the open courtyard, next to a fountain, a shabbily externally dressed but perfectly internally adorned SUFI, HAZRAT SHAMS-E-TABRIZI (R.A), came to their assembly and watched them. He saw MAULANA RUMI (R.A) referring to numerous handwritten books in the course of his teaching.HAZRAT SHAMS-E-TABRIZI (R.A), , asked MAULANA JALALLUDDIN RUMI (R.A) as to what was in the books. MAULANA JALALLUDDIN RUMI (R.A) replied, “O! SUFI.
This contains knowledge that is beyond your understanding so you continue to read your rosary (TASBIH).” Unnoticed by RUMI, HAZRAT SHAMS-E-TABRIZI (R.A), threw all the books into the pond of water. When MAULANA RUMI’s (R.A) students saw what occurred they began beating HAZRAT SHAMS-E-TABRIZI (R.A). This and the screams of HAZRAT SHAMS-E-TABRIZI (R.A), alerted MAULANA RUMI (R.A) as to what occurred. He complained that all his valuable knowledge had been destroyed.HAZRAT SHAMS-E-TABRIZI (R.A), said; “Tell your pupils to leave me alone and I will give back your books.” A visibly dejected RUMI conceded to the request thinking that this was impossible. He was surprised to see SHAMS TABREZ (R.A), recite BISMILLAH, lift the drenched books from the pond, blew dust of them and returned them to him intact. He asked SHAMS TABREZ (R.A) as to how he did this. HAZRAT SHAMS TABREZ (R.A) replied, “This knowledge is beyond your understanding so you continue to teach your pupils.” MAULANA JALALLUDDIN RUMI (R.A) fell at his feet and was swept into the currents of LOVE. The presence of this ragged SUFI, HAZRAT SHAMS TABREZ (R.A), changed MAULANA JALALLUDDIN RUMI (R.A) from a respected professor of theology into a LOVER of GOD, one who summed up his whole life with the phrase, "I burnt, and I burnt, and I burnt."

A treasure for lovers(story of shah shams Tabriz and Rumi)
These are not stories, but to learn lessons. What i learned is Hazrat Shams (RA) Changed Maulana from a respected one to lover of Allah.

We have also visited the muqam of hazrat Shams Tabrez in Konya, the Murshid of Maulana Jalal uddin Rumi, MashAllah! An amazing story is narrated about both these great men. Once Maulana Rumi was sitting near a water pond and reading some books that a dervesh appeared and asked him what is he reading? Maulana replied in a bit of arrogance that "you do not know this knowledge" ! At this, the poor old Dervesh picked up those books and threw them in the water. Rumi was horrified as his precious books were drowned. Then after some pause, the old unknown Dervesh placed his hand inside the water and pulled out all the books dry and readable. Shocked and amazed at this miracle, Rumi asked this dervesh how did he do it? at this the dervesh replied "this is the knowledge, you do not know"!! This dervesh was Shams Tabrez!
ReplyDeleteThat was the begining of a profound spiritual relationship which transformed a scholar Rumi into a Faqeer and Dervesh taking him into the realms of mystical spirituality.
Shams Tabrez was later martyred by the followers of Maulana Rumi as they thought that this old man has bewitched Maulana Rumi. Rumi was shattered and then lived a life of pain and sorrow in memory of his beloved Murshid.
For us, it was again a spiritual experience for us to visit the muqam of this great dervesh who knew the ilm "which we do not know!!
